IPL 2020 Auction: Vivo IPL 2020 player auction took place on 19th December 2019 at the ITC Royal Bengal Hotel in Kolkata. There were many players for the auction and only a few were sold to different teams. A total of 62 players were sold in all 8 teams. All the teams retained a few players before the auction and purchased a few during the auction.

Money Spent: ₹140.30 crore
Most Expensive Signing: Pat Cummins (₹15.5 crores, KKR);
The most expensive overseas player in the history of the IPL and the second-highest bid in the IPL auctions.
Most Expensive Indian: Piyush Chawla (₹6.75 crores, CSK)
The IPL t20 auction brought excitement and kept cricket experts & cricket fans on the edge of their seats. A total of 62 cricket players were sold during the Indian Premier League 2020 mini-auction. As expected, the team owners spent a huge amount of money on some of the big names in world cricket. From Australia to South Africa, and England to the West Indies, players belonging to different countries were grabbed by the eight IPL franchises. The Aussie speedster Pat Cummins became the most expensive overseas buy while leg-spinner Piyush Chawla became the most expensive Indian buy.

This year’s IPL 2020 Auction was a disappointment for all the Indian players as they were not sold for a much higher amount. All the Teams looked for foreign players because of their International experience and their regular participation in the there respective International side. Most of the Indians Sold were either Uncapped Indians or were old enough not to play for the Indian national team again.
It was a surprise for all the spectators watching Pat Cummins be the highest-paid player as he is a bowler and the T20 format of the game is not for the bowlers as stated by many Pundits across the world. Glenn Maxwell was the Second highest paid Player in the Auction and Chris Morris the third.
The bid for Chris Morris was also surprising for the spectators as he is not in the regular South African team now then also he was the third highest-paid player.
Another surprise was the bid for Piyush Chawla who was the highest-sold Indian player in the Auction.
